Ain't no creek quiet enough-
Fuji strode into the area known as the Love Creek, looking about to see if any were around. Skittering aside to an area on her own, craning her gentle shaped head to the icy surface. Frowning, the mare ghosted her lips over the cold surface, the roughness tough on her muzzle, and pulled back, dismayed. She didn't like breaking the ice, because she often feared she may fall in, and also sometimes, the roar of the cracking ice frightened the desire to drink from her tongue. Gingerly, she clapped her hoof on the ice and flinched, releaved when she was able to make a small hole in the frozen water. The liquid from the pond itself was chilly and refreshing on her tongue, and the resulting shudder from the temperature woke her up enough to last for a time. Letting some of it fall from her lips, the flicka rubbed her maw on her foreleg, drying it- the frozen water was discomforting on her lips when it chilled further.
Lifting her eyes, Fuji whuffed a sigh and wandered elsewhere, hopefully seeking out any other willing to chat a little with the shy mare. The grullo lady, now seeking a hiding hovel, found herself in a small grove of pines near the waters edge, able to keep most of the nip from her kissers as she pressed them to her chest, sighing into her fur as she settled. Like a mourning dove, she waited there, stagnant against the stagnent background, not a life appearing in the vacinity.

Pride galloped onto the Love Creek terra, the wind whipping back his black, crimped mane. His large hooves pounded against the hard, winter ground as he cantered along, looking for a mare. They might not want him, because he has no terra of his own, or a herd, but...he had heart, right? His heart played a symphony of beats as shivers raced up his spine. He'd get a mare, no matter what.
He approached the creek to see a young mare, lying on a patch of pine needles. "Hello." The only word he could say. She left him breathless. She was...beautiful. He grinned, looking her over. Nice structure, color...she was perfect. Now, she just had to accept him, and they'd be off.

As the little lass lidded ehr eyes to rest, she heard the sound of hoofbeats, only able just to ride to her hooves as a stallion came full out at her, staring her down as if she were a piece of prime meat. Ears pinned, she stepped back, grinding her teeth defensively. "Look at my face, not my body-" She said in a quiet tone, not missing the note of fear in it. Mares were not as willing to join stallions as of now, especially with spring afoot. She had no intentions of joining him if he were to apprach the shy beast. What a rude way to talk to a lady!
The hooves that had clamored her to her own were the only thing she saw though, eyes staring at the ground, not at him, a bit wary of the bastard she may see upon looking up.

Pride smirked handsomely. "Sorry." he whispered shyly, his cheeks a bright red. "I am Pride. No current herd." A regal tone echoed in the air as he spoke. He had gone a long way recently. His life had changed in many ways. He had left his herd for love, talked to many, unique strangers and most of all...he had met this mare.
She seemed pissed about the way he had seen her. A sassy one, great. But, still a mare. He couldn't argue with that. His hooves had a thick coating of mud that grew as he stood in a puddle and he snorted, throwing his head back, for no apparant reason.

She was slightly uneasd that he seemed embarassed by his wandering eyes. Her own even softened then- Maybe he couldn't help himself? She didn't realize the value of her worth, figuring there were always mares prettier and more willing to submit than her. She was a feminist of a sort, but as usual, he voice would not matter faced against one with testosterone.
She sighed a bit, her breath hitched as she tried to calm herself. She was backed up in her little hidey-hole, stuck in a ways against a small clutter of sheltering trees. They were like a curtain from the rest of the world, a wall blocking her freedom. Alarmed by his head toss, she stiffened her strong limbs, large haunches trembling as she warily stared him down, fighting to swallow her mental fear.

No response answered his comment. That fired his temper, alot. "Excuse me...miss?" he neighed softly. Maybe she was deaf...maybe she couldn't speak...Wait. She had just spoken when she had told him off. She looked more serene then before and he relaxed, the tension out of his shoulders as he sighed softly.

Fuji looked up as if awaking as he called on her. "Fuji, no herd." she said, still keeping her fair distance from him. Her mother, a bit of a wockjob, had been the one to feed her the lies that all stallions were in search for one thing. She has determined that this was one fo them, unsure if he was really willing to care for her, or just knock her silly like some she had seen around before. Oh no, she did not want to have a foal on her own- Not one bit.

He looked at her. Fuji...unique. She didn't look to thrilled to have him there. "Look, if you don't want a stallion...I'll leave." Sin growled, his ears back in rage. She had not even asked about him. She just sat there, dazed. She looked at him like he was the Terminator. Which, he wasn't. Some little mare probably told her about Quarn, the 'womanizer.'
" So if you don't want me, I'll leave, Fuji." Was the last thing he said to the mare before turning and beginning to fast trot out of the clearing.

With a whuff of sadness, she looked at the stallion's retreating figure. She called out, yes- She was dying of loneliness- but she feared he had trotted too fast away from her. Hopelessly after a time, she went lax and hung her head, disheartened.

He stopped very suddenly, blinking and locked in a trance. He suddenly turned slowly to see Fuji's head low and depressing figure. He nodded slowly trotting over to her, his head bobbing every step. He craned his neck to look at her. He sad eyes thought he had gone...but he hadn't.

As she thought of picking at the grass tickling her lips, Fuji looked upat the sound of more approaching hooves. Tensing, she lifted her head in amazement to see that the stallion had returned. Warmth flooded her cheeks as the mare's eyes widened. "You returned for me?" She asked, ears stil laxly drooping, though showing a small hope.

"Why wouldn't I?" he cooed, smiling brightly. "You're an amazing little mare." She seemed a little depressed, which made him depressed. Chain reaction. He chuckled a little, which he shouldn't have...oh well.
